How to Reset Your Change Oil Light in a Saturn

AUTOMOTIVE COLLISION CENTER INC. 410-799-2000 WWW.MDACI.COM

Although General Motors decided to phase out the Saturn brand during its 2009 restructuring, many Saturn vehicles remain on the road. Saturn automobiles were manufactured from 1991 to 2009; the Saturn Aura (North American Car of the Year, 2007), the Saturn Outlook and the Saturn Sky were among the more popular models. Like most GM vehicles, Saturns came equipped with an oil-life monitoring system that simply reminds you to change your oil. After changing your oil, you reset the system, a process that is quite different for each Saturn.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Instructions

  1. 1

Turn the ignition to “Run” (with the engine off and the vehicle in “Park”).

  2. 2

Press the trip odometer button repeatedly, until “Oil Life Remaining” displays on your instrument cluster.

  3. 3

Press and hold the trip odometer button until the light flashes; you will hear three chimes, and the “Oil Life Remaining” display will reset to “100%.”

    Saturn Vue

  4. 1

Turn the ignition to “On” (with the engine off and the vehicle in “Park”).

  5. 2

Depress the accelerator three times quickly (within five seconds).

Turn the key to “On” (with the engine off, vehicle in “Park” and the parking brake set).

  8. 2

Press and hold the “i” button and the “Reset” button on the dash, to enter the “Personalization” menu.

  9. 3

Press the “i” button repeatedly to scroll through the options, until “Oil Life Reset” displays. Press and hold “Reset” until the display shows “Acknowledged.”

    Saturn Astra
